May is National Foster Care Month

Posted by: adoptiononline on: May 23, 2011

Although the month of May is coming to a close, its not too late to remember that May is National Foster Care Month. While AdoptionOnline.com and many other sites focus mainly on adoption of newborns, National Foster Care Month reminds us that there are many children in need of good homes and loving families.

National Foster Care Month is an opportunity for people all across the United Stares to focus attention on the year-round needs of American children and youth in foster care. Focusing one month a year on foster care, raises awareness about foster care and hopefully encourages more people to get involved in the lives of these youth — whether as their foster parents, volunteers, mentors, employers or in other ways.

For the thousands of dedicated foster families and other caring individuals and organizations that already are supporting these young people, National Foster Care Month provides us with an opportunity to say “Thank You” for all that you do.
